Yellowstone to Treat Buffalo Creek, Removing Invasive Fish

Yellowstone National Park will temporarily close Buffalo Creek, a tributary of Slough Creek in the park’s northern area, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 7. The closure allows park staff to treat the stream and remove invasive fish species that threaten native aquatic life.

The creek will reopen to the public on Sept. 7, continuing the park’s broader effort to protect native species and improve ecosystem health.
