White Sands National Park will mark National Fossil Day with a series of programs throughout October, highlighting the park’s preserved Ice Age human and mammal footprints. Activities run from Oct. 2 to Oct. 28 and include guided hikes along the new Ice Age Trail, ranger‑led talks and drop‑in sessions. A special presentation will coincide with the October full moon on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m., offering visitors a unique night‑time perspective of the fossil sites. All events are free and open to the public.
