Firefighters in Olympic National Park extinguished two small lightning-started fires on Tuesday. The Maiden 2 fire, which burned about 0.7 acres, was located on a ridgeline roughly one mile north of Maiden Peak, and a single-tree fire near Deer Park Campground was also doused. Both ignitions stemmed from the lightning storm that swept the area last weekend. Crews remain focused on containing the larger Mt. Barnes and Mount Tom Creek fires that continue to threaten park resources.
