The National Park Service, working with the Federal Highway Administration, will commence a major road rehabilitation and safety improvement effort on roughly 42 miles of Kelso‑Cima Road and South Kelbaker Road in the Mojave National Preserve on Nov 16. The work, slated to continue through 2029, aims to upgrade pavement, drainage and signage. Hunters should expect temporary road closures or detours during construction, but the upgrades will ultimately provide safer and more reliable access to hunting areas within the preserve once completed.
