The National Park Service announced that the Antietam National Battlefield visitor center, Dunker Church and surrounding roads and trails will be partially closed beginning Oct. 27 while Marine Corps Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists remove legacy ammunition from the base of the O.T. Reilly Monument. The closures could extend through Oct. 28. Hunters planning trips to the area should check the park’s website for updates and consider alternative routes or timing to avoid the restricted zones during the cleanup operation.
