The National Park Service says the full northbound closure of the George Washington Memorial Parkway between Spout Run Parkway and Route 123, which began Aug 10, will stay in effect through Sep 17, 2026. The closure runs Monday‑Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with all northbound traffic detoured. Starting Sep 21 and lasting until Oct 29, 2026, the parkway’s southbound lanes in the same segment will also be closed during the same weekday hours for tree assessments, pruning and removal. Hunters should plan alternate routes and check for updates before heading to the area.
