The National Park Service says strong winds and coastal impacts are expected, so by 12 p.m. on Oct 17 the campgrounds, off‑road vehicle ramps and other visitor facilities at Cape Hatteras National Seashore will be closed.

The closures also apply to Fort Raleigh National Historic Site and the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Reopening will start once conditions improve and post‑storm inspections are finished.
