NPS Appoints Chris Mather as Niobrara River Superintendent

The National Park Service announced that Chris Mather has been selected as the new superintendent of the Niobrara National Scenic River. He will assume the position in mid-September 2026. Mather’s tenure will focus on maintaining the river’s wildlife habitats, supporting sustainable hunting and fishing, and working with state partners to ensure continued public access and conservation of this prized resource.
