NOAA Fisheries has announced that several projects to restore habitat have been funded in collaboration with recreational anglers through the National Fish Habitat Partnership. Partners in Hawaiʻi, Oregon, and South Carolina have made progress on this work, engaging local communities to conserve fish habitat and support access to sustainable saltwater recreational fishing. Additionally, NOAA Fisheries scientists have developed genetic tools to study black-footed albatross bycatch, which will provide a better understanding of population-level impacts and inform targeted management.
