NOAA Celebrates Sea Turtle Week and Conservation Efforts

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries recently celebrated Sea Turtle Week 2026 to highlight the importance of conserving these marine reptiles. Six sea turtle species are found in US waters and are threatened or endangered. NOAA is working to conserve and recover sea turtles through various efforts, including reducing bycatch in shrimp trawls and rescuing cold-stunned turtles. The agency also marked 50 years of sustainable fisheries management under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.
