The National Park Service announced Angelita Alvino as the new superintendent for Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments. Alvino, who led the St. Croix national parks for almost five years, started her role on Aug. 23 and will oversee preservation and visitor programs at the historic forts. For hunters, the appointment means continued cooperation with state wildlife agencies and a focus on maintaining access to regulated hunting areas near the monuments while ensuring the protection of cultural resources.
