The National Park Service is searching for Neil Gehring, 26, who departed the Madison Falls Trailhead on August 31 to traverse from Boulder Lake to Appleton Pass and return by September 1. He was reported overdue early on September 2, and search crews began looking immediately. Anyone with information about his whereabouts or who was in the area is urged to call the NPS Investigative Services Branch Tip Line at 888‑653‑0009.
