The National Park Service is seeking public input on a proposal to replace a nearly century old wooden ballast bridge on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The bridge, built in 1926, spans Bright Angel Wash and carries the Grand Canyon Railway track, but is now in poor condition and in need of replacement. The proposed project would replace the existing wooden structure with three steel pipe culverts, and the public is invited to provide comments on the plan.
