BLM Secures $30 Million USDA Funding to Boost Wild Horse Fertility Control

The Bureau of Land Management announced at the National Wild Horse and Burro Roundtable that the U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing $30 million to expand and accelerate fertility‑control efforts for wild horses and burros nationwide. The investment will support vaccine‑darting operations and related logistics to manage herd sizes on public lands. "The passion shown by the American people for safeguarding the Spirit of the West continues to guide and energize this work," Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said, noting the funding will help keep wild horses and burros a cherished part of the nation’s heritage.
