BLM announced today that it has cut Alaska's overselections by more than 5 million acres, eliminating over 4 million acres of selections and nearly 1 million acres of top‑filings that were identified through a public process led by the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. This action moves the state closer to fulfilling its statehood land entitlement and settles the long‑standing Alaska land pattern.

The change instantly places over 4 million acres under the Federal Subsistence priority of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act, giving federally qualified subsistence hunters and other users better access to public lands across the state.
